And God said 'Let there be torrential rain.'
Since the start of my training, most of the rides I've been doing have been in the range of an hour, or about 15-20miles. Yesterday I decided to go for my first longer ride: at least two hours/30-35 miles.
The ride went well, and in course of it I covered most of Pittsburgh that I had ridden through before: Edgewood, Highland Park, Downtown. At the end of the ride, as I was coming back from Downtown along the jail trail, I hit a weird bump, getting a flat tire. My lesson was learned after last time, though, and I had all the tools, and most of the knowledge, necessary to change the flat.
So I pulled to the side, popped the wheel off, switched the tubes, and was in the process of pumping up the new tube when one of the flash thunderstorms that weather.com had warned me about decided to strike. It was a brief downpour, but enough to leave me feeling drenching wet, but also pretty hardcore.
In other news, despite a rocky start the fundraising party went well. I'll post once I figure out the grand total.
